Where we can help

Challenges from everyday practice

Do you recognise one of these situations? Read how we can help, or request advice straight away.

Udder health and cell count

A high cell count costs milk and money, and calls for quick action. The sooner you act, the better the chance that the cow keeps eating well and returns to her previous yield.

Sound familiar?

  • A raised cell count after milk recording
  • Older cows with a persistently high cell count
  • Cows that start to show flakes in the milk
  • A hard, swollen quarter

How we help

Together we look at the right moment and the right support, for example an AHS-10 or AHS-28 garlic bolus, and at the three points you always keep an eye on: is the cow eating well, is her yield rising again and is she free of fever? If any of these is off, call your vet.

Drying off

Because of intensive milking by machine or robot, the keratin plug in the teat canal does not always close straight away after drying off. In addition, more and more farmers want to dry off without routine antibiotics.

Sound familiar?

  • Cows still giving more than 12 to 15 litres at drying off
  • A cell count above 125,000 at drying off
  • Doubts about the sealing of the teat canal

How we help

We draw up a drying-off protocol with you: the Milk Stop Bolus to reduce the yield, the Bovi-Jet Applicator for a natural seal of the teat canal and, where needed, an AHS-28 for a higher cell count. With attention to hygiene at every step.

Advice on this topic

Energy balance around calving

After calving, energy demand rises faster than the cow can take in through her feed. This increases the risk of ketosis, with consequences for milk yield and fertility.

Sound familiar?

  • Cows that eat poorly or lose weight quickly after calving
  • A high Body Condition Score at drying off
  • A disappointing start to lactation
  • Fertility problems after calving

How we help

A good transition calls for an overall approach: ration, management and preventive support. We look at your dry period and transition period and advise on the right moment for the AHS Keto Bolus, which is effective for about 50 days.

Well-being in times of stress and discomfort

Stress and discomfort cost a cow energy, feed intake and milk. Think of a difficult calving, hoof or udder problems, a minor procedure, transport or heat stress.

Sound familiar?

  • A difficult calving
  • Hoof or udder problems
  • After a minor procedure or injury
  • Periods of heat, transport or high production

How we help

We advise you on how to support your cows during these periods, for example with the Painfree Bolus or the fast-acting liquid Painfree Liquid, alongside the care of you and your vet.

A good start for calves

Digestive problems are the biggest health challenge in young calves, and the respiratory tract also needs attention. Good care in the first ten days makes a difference for the rest of their lives.

Sound familiar?

  • Calves with loose droppings in the first weeks
  • Coughing or slow growth
  • High losses or many treatments in young stock

How we help

We look at colostrum management, hygiene and housing, and draw up a start-up schedule with CryptoProtect or Crypto Vitaal Plus from the first days of life, plus the Small Calf bolus on day 5 and day 11.

Gut health in poultry

In poultry, everything starts with a healthy gut. Issues such as blackhead (histomoniasis) in turkeys and chickens or the red mite in laying hens call for a preventive approach.

Sound familiar?

  • Restless birds or fluctuating feed intake
  • Disappointing laying or hatching results
  • Problems with red mites
  • Previous problems with blackhead

How we help

We advise on a preventive schedule with liquid allicin via the drinking water: how much, how often and when to step up temporarily.

Barn climate, ammonia and manure

Ammonia in the barn is bad for animals, people and the environment. Wet manure and wet bedding also lead to a poorer barn climate and greater mineral losses.

Sound familiar?

  • A sharp smell of ammonia in the barn
  • Wet manure or wet bedding
  • Heating or mould in the feed
  • The wish to lose less nitrogen and phosphate

How we help

We advise on how to use zeolite as a feed additive and as bedding, with the right dosage per species. Zeolite is on the FiBL list and is therefore also suitable for organic farms.

Protein in the ration

A ration with the right amino acids is the basis for growth and production. More and more farms are also looking for a European, GMO-free protein source.

Sound familiar?

  • Looking for an alternative to soya
  • A need for more lysine and methionine in the ration
  • A protein source of consistent quality

How we help

We work out with you how potato protein (± 78.5 % crude protein, rich in lysine and methionine) fits into your ration, and deliver in bags, big bags or bulk.
